starting of really relazed and low key and building to a chaotic yet somehow ordered climax. The Dark Star performed on this show while not my favourite ever (that would have to go to Live/Dead), is my favourite excluding 1969. That 11 of my favourite performances of those staple Dead songs in one single show, and I pretty close to including a few more. I have never heard a better Me & My Uncle, Deal, Black Throated Wind, China Cat Sunflower, I Know You Rider, He's Gone, Jack Straw, Bird Song and Greatest Story Ever Told. And the banter between tracks is entertaining, making you feel like you were there (what I wouldn't give to have been there.). Everyone is playing in perfect harmony with each other. Why? Because Jerry's riffs are perfectly chosen. So many of the songs on this setlist are my favourite ever live performances of them. This is the show that got me, and many many others, into the Dead. Sugar Mags and Casey Jones were very nice, too. A nice line in that song is: Make my old memories come alive ![]() I didn't know that it was a Merle Haggard song, like Mama Tried. The transitive nightfall of diamonds was like a glistening shower in the darkness. You can hear the crowd whistling and cheering. I have to say it is one of my favorite versions too. Thanks ! Plenty of plenty of between song banter! Dark Star is so jazzy (almost Dave Brubeckish) and integrated. What a great night to be out under the stars watching the camp fire and listening to these great tunes. Dark Star is also mystically cascading through the night. I'm forced to use Windows Media Player since my company blocks me from downloading Flash from the site but, even in its rudimentary options, the visualizer shows every string played, drum beat, note sang, and sound heard. In the history of man kind, there are few accomplishments worthy of greater accolade than that of the visualizer to watch while listening to the Dead. I sort of zoned out watching the visualization on my screen. I guess it was that time I thought they were singing it about me and was experiencing a little synersesia. Kaiser to consider, before I would even think about venues such as Barton Hall or even, I dare say, the Fillmore East or the Capitol theater. Then there is Winterland, Great American Music Hall, the Greek Theater, Frost Amphitheater, Henry J. After that I would go to the Acid Test at the Fillmore, which is akin to this Veneta show. Of course, I enjoy listening to East Coast shows, but if I could be transported back in time Veneta would be one of my first stops. ![]() Even some of those shows that are deemed "too mellow" by East Coast crew are absolutely relevant to me. ![]() When I listen to the these GD shows on the archive I try to imagine what the surrounding environment (the venue, audience, GD band members, historical significance) was like at that time.įor me, I prefer West Coast shows. Not only is the quality of the music exceptional, but the overall environment would have been so high. The reason why this is show is so exceptional is because so many Heads lived/live in Eugene, as well as SF and Santa Cruz. When the Dead were not on tour where did many of the core Dead Heads go? ![]() Mbuna are usually equally territorial against males or females, the exception to this being when a female is ready to breed. Most Mbuna cichlids are territorial, willing to defend what they perceive to be their territory against their tankmates, while others are downright aggressive. For Mbuna that do best in groups, some shops will provide a discount on purchasing a group of fish, helping keep the price within your budget. There are exceptions to this and some rare varieties of Mbuna may sell for more than this range. However, most Mbuna will fall in the range of $5 up to $30 per fish. ![]() Since Mbuna cichlids are so varied, their costs vary as well. Others do best when they are introduced to the tank one at a time, and some Mbuna cichlids are best kept alone or with compatible, non-cichlid tankmates. Some Mbuna become more aggressive and territorial when brought home in pairs or when introduced to the tank in a group. Image Credit: Arunee Rodloy, ShutterstockĬichlids in general are known for their aggressive, territorial nature, so tankmates should be chosen carefully and it’s imperative to know the typical behavior of the species of Mbuna you are bringing home. They tend to be active fish, though, so it’s not uncommon for them to spend the whole day swimming around the tank. Mbuna cichlids spend much of their time hiding in rock caves, and they can often be seen congregating under the rocks, peering out at you. These fish may be hard on plants, uprooting them while scavenging or eating plant matter, so many plants are not a good match for them. This means that a rock-filled tank is necessary for their health and happiness. These cichlids are variable in behavior, diet, compatibility, and color, but they are all rock-dwelling fish. Mbuna cichlids are a large group of cichlids that all come from Lake Malawi. Multi-lumen catheters are often inserted through a short central line with a wider inner diameter. A large Central Venous Catheter makes it easy to give fluid rapidly when required.Ĭentral venous catheters can also be used to measure the amount of oxygen in the blood that is returning to the heart. CVP measurements help us to determine the amount of IV fluid a patient needs. This pressure is known as the Central Venous Pressure or CVP. They can be connected to a pressure monitoring system and used to measure the pressure inside the right side of the heart. Most critically ill patients will have a Central Venous Catheter.Ĭentral Venous Catheters can be used for other reasons. Drugs that are used to treat low blood pressure, chemotherapy agents and solutions with high concentrations of glucose (sugar) are examples of drugs that need to be administered through a Central Vein. Administration of these drugs into large central veins allows the drugs to be rapidly diluted by the large blood volume. Many of the drugs used during critical illness are irritating or harmful to small blood vessels. The most common sites are: subclavian (upper chest), jugular (neck) or femoral (groin). Brian O’Halloran plays Dante Hicks, Clerks’ protagonist and a character that appears several times throughout the Clerks series, but O’Halloran himself cameos in all of Kevin Smith's View Askewniverse films, always as a character with the last name “ Hicks.” Randal Graves (Jeff Anderson) is also introduced in Clerks, and there are even cameos from Mosier and Walt Flanagan, Smith’s long time friend who would eventually be given the keys to Smith’s New Jersey comic book store, Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash, the location for the AMC reality series Comic Book Men. Jay (Jason Mewes) and Silent Bob (Kevin Smith) would become the face of the Askewniverse, showing up in every movie in the series. The cast of Clerks was rather small, but the majority of the characters would go on to appear in Smith’s subsequent works. Smith and his film school classmate Scott Mosier created View Askew Productions to produce Clerks, which is where the cinematic universe gets its name. The film is shot in black and white, conveying the perceived sense of mundanity Smith felt toward his job working in the same convenience store in which the film was shot. The inaugural movie installment in Kevin Smith’s cinematic universe, Clerksfollows a day in the life of a convenience store worker. Reportedly, after watching Richard Linklater's Slacker (1990), a very cool, very Gen-X film that follows various eccentric, paranoid layabouts in Austin, Texas, Smith felt inspired and liberated to approach film with his uniquely laidback, yet ambitious movie-making style. Smith has always cast his favorite friends and family in his projects, and the offscreen relationships that inform the characters make the Askewniverse films stand out. While certain story elements have a role throughout the series, it is predominantly the characters and the relationships between them that identify the Askewniverse. Smith’s extended universe is made up of works spanning nearly 30 years, but the View Askewniverse is principally comprised of seven films, and with the release of the series’ eighth installment, Clerks 3, it seems like a good time to take a look back through Smith’s films and the world he has built thus far.
